EXPLORE THE ARCHIVEOur Story
Mantel House began in 2020, inspired by founder Molly Acorn's search for the perfect marble mantel to restore warmth and elegance to her 1890 Victorian row house in Washington, DC. What began as a personal project soon became a passion for sourcing, restoring, and studying historic marble fireplaces.
Over time, that passion evolved into the Mantel House Signature Collection—a series of historically inspired fireplace designs shaped by years of working with original antiques. Today, Mantel House serves discerning homeowners, architects, and interior designers worldwide, offering both made-to-order signature fireplaces and bespoke designs crafted for individual projects.
Whether restoring a historic home or creating a new one with a sense of permanence, we believe a fireplace is more than an architectural feature—it is the heart of the room and the foundation for how a space is experienced.

OUR CRAFT
At Mantel House, craftsmanship begins long before a block of stone is ever carved. It begins with study and refinement. Every profile, moulding, and proportion has been carefully examined to understand not only how these fireplaces were made, but why they have endured for generations.
That knowledge informs every decision we make today. Rather than replicating historic fireplaces exactly as they once were, we thoughtfully refine their architectural language for contemporary homes. The result is a collection that honors tradition while embracing the precision of modern craftsmanship.
From the selection of natural stone to architectural drawings, digital modeling, and final fabrication, every stage of the process is guided by the belief that exceptional fireplaces are created through intention rather than excess.
Explore the pillars of our craft—from the materials we select and the process we follow to the completed homes that bring these fireplaces to life.
"Everything from inspiration photos all the way to the connection to my region's best installer, this process felt like full service!"
